Create a Star Citizen Account

Since mid-June 2020, the process for creating a Star Citizen account has been simplified, and authentication to access the site uses your email address as your username. In addition, two-factor authentication via email is now enabled by default.

Creating an account is non-binding, but it is a necessary step if you want to enjoy a free flight or eventually purchase a game pack.

Start by going to the Enlist Now page, which will take you directly to the account creation process. Or, from the RSI website, click on the "SIGN-IN" button at the top of the page. In the submenu that appears, under the line "No account? Create one!", click on "Create one!" to access the account creation page.

All you have to do is fill out the form with the following information:

Once completed, all you have to do is validate the form.

Then check your email, where you will receive a confirmation message to validate your email address.

Account Dashboard

Once your account has been created, you will have access to the Account Dashboard page, which allows you to access the various key elements of your account management:

We will not go into further detail about these different tabs here, as the one that matters most to us is the Settings tab, since it allows you to access your recovery codes and possibly change the two-factor authentication procedure.

Recovery Codes

Once you have created your account, before going any further, it is a good idea to make a copy of your recovery codes.

If you forget your password or encounter a problem that prevents you from accessing your account, CIG will ask you for a recovery code. There are ten of them, and it is best to have a copy before you are asked for one...

To do this, go to the Account Dashboard page, then Settings, and finally click on the SECURITY button, which requires you to enter your password. Click on the Manage your Backup Code button and print and/or save these codes as a TXT file.

Two-factor Authentication

Two-factor authentication is enabled by default, and you will quickly become familiar with it the next time you log in to the website or the game launcher.

After logging in, you will be asked to enter a code that has been sent to you by email. Check your email to retrieve it, then enter the code in the space provided and specify how long it will be valid (for the current session, one day, one month, or even one year) to confirm your identity.

This double identification will be repeated each time you try to access your account via a new device (tablet, computer, or phone), or from a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.), or when the previous double authentication has expired.

It is strongly recommended that you maintain this double authentication, but if the email procedure does not suit you, you can disable it from the Settings page and opt for a mobile app procedure. CIG accepts "Authy" and "Google Authenticator".
